Eligibility Requirements:
1. Students must be Canadian students who are currently enrolled in a full-time program at a public post-secondary institution in
Canada
, or in Grade 12 planning to pursue a full-time public post-secondary education.
2. Students applying for a scholarship must demonstrate the need for financial assistance above and beyond those provided by OSAP or individual school grants. To be considered for a scholarship grant, the applicants family income must not exceed $40,000.
3. Applicant must be pursuing a career in Social Service or Business.
4. Applicants must have a minimum of 40 volunteer hours accumulated prior to receiving the grant and have demonstrated leadership and a keen interest in the well being and improvement of our community.
5. Scholarships grants will be awarded to a specific program and are not transferable to another program.
Note: Successful applicants will be requested to submit proof of family income. All information is kept strictly confidential.
Essay:
A summary essay (maximum 300 words) must be included with the application, describing how they can use their field of interest to benefit the community.
Essay Guidelines
- Essays are to be a minimum of 300 words to a maximum of 500 words.
- The document must be word processed in a 12-point font, double-spaced.
- Pages must be numbered.
- Essays must include a bibliography.
- Applicant's name must not appear on any page of the essay.
- One essay submission only per applicant.
Essays will be reveiwed using the following criteria:
- Knowledge of subject matter
- Clarity of ideas presented
- Overall presentation, organization, grammar and spelling
